Jane's Background

In May 2009, Jane was elected Fellow in the Society for Technical Communications (STC) based on her continuing contributions in the field of technical communications and technical training, her contributions to STC as IDL SIG Manager (2004-2007), her continued contributions to the Phoenix Chapter of STC, and her ongoing support of many chapters in establishing live web seminars in place of face-to-face meetings.

In 2006, she was elected STC Associate Fellow for her contributions to technical training and the Instructional Design and Learning Special Interest Group (IDL SIG), for which she's been Manager since January 2004.

In 2003, she was designated as a "Certified Performance Technologist" (CPT) by The International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). Jane received this designation after over 18 years of improving workplace performance focusing on instructional design of classroom and e-learning courses, training facilitation, process improvement, project direction, coaching, and mentoring.

In 2000 and 2001, she consulted for a well-known telecommunications training company to facilitate their e-Learning initiative. She mentored staff, managed projects, developed processes, and facilitated more effective communication between designers and developers.

In 1997, she was the designer and project leader for an interactive multi-media tutorial that won a gold award in the 1998 Internet and Multimedia Training Contest. Since then she has designed and/or developed several e-Learning Tutorials, including a 1900 page course for a procurement software, three tutorials for an order processing system, and two tutorials for technical support personnel.

She has facilitated instructional design workshops and courses for ILT, CBT, IMT, WBT, and e-Learning for Clark Training and Consulting. Because she has also facilitated quality management courses, she brings an aspect of quality improvement to all projects and training.

During her career, she has worked for many clients, including Boston Scientific, RiverSource University, The GMarie Group, Clark Training and Consulting, Paychex, Intuit, Honeywell, Deluxe Financial Corporation, TRA, Sybase, Lifemark, Alliant Foodservice (now US Foods), Learning-Edge, Xantel Corporation, Solomon Software, Pennzoil, Cincinnati Bell Information Systems, Allied Van Lines, Michaels and Associates, and One-on-One Training.

In addition to working in the field of training in the corporate world, she has extensive experience as a community college and high school instructor; therefore, she brings first-hand knowledge of adult learning to all she designs.

She is also a personal and professional coach (see www.sedonacoach.com. She resides in Sedona, Arizona, where she is an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor for her own swim school, Sedona Swim School (www.sedonaswimschool.com) as well as a provider of Shamanic Journeys (see www.shamanic-journeys.com).
